Flames Over Fort Fisher Last Week

Over the years, Youpon Holly shrubs have taken over the remaining mounds of the fort. They are a highly invasive plant as well and choke off native grasses that help prevent erosion. //// The Youpon were not on the original fort, whose sand was held in place by grasses. So this will help more closely recreate what the fort looked like back in 1864-1865. //// Site tours were temporarily suspended, but big crowds gathered to witness it which has been planned for more than two years. //// Lots of Smoke, Just Like During the Two Battles. --Old B-R'er
