Whiting Takes Command At Wilmington in 1863
From the July 23, 1863, Wilmington Journal.
It will be seen by General Order No. 1 in to-day's Journal that Major General WHITING assumes command of the Department of North Carolina, with his Head Quarters at Wilmington.
That would be W.H.C. Whiting.
