February 25, 1862: The USS Monitor Commissioned
FEBRUARY 25TH, 1862: The USS Monitor commissioned in New York, Lieutenant John L. Worden commanding. Captain Dahlgren described the Monitor as "a mere speck, like a hat on the surface."
